NAHB 20 Club

RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA- Bill Cotton, president of Cotton Custom Homes and Cotton Contracting is constantly learning from his/her peers how to build better homes, improve business practices, and increase customer satisfaction. As a member ofthe National Association of Home Builders' (NAHB) 20 Club program, Bill meets regularly with other builders for an open exchange of information and advice.

NAHB's 20 Club program is a unique networking and education opportunity available exclusively to NAHB members. Groups of 20 builders from similar, non-competing building businesses meet regularly to discuss proven teclmiques and the latest trends in design, production, and management. The knowledge they gain from each other enables 20 Club members to improve their business operations, increase the quality of the homes they build, and raise their standards of customer service.

According to Allan Brandt, founding trustee of the program and a builder / land developer from Englewood, Colorado, "I am excited about the positive effects this program will have for all participants in the long run. The general feeling of the 20 Club members is that they will reap the benefits of their participation through improved operations and pass this expertise on to their customers through improvements in the homes they build."

The clubs meet several times a year, enabling Bill to continue to improve his business over the years with the invaluable information he garners from these builder networking meetings.

For more information about NAHB's 20 Club program, please contact Assistant Staff Vice President Cheryl Caulfield at 800-368-5242, ext. 8110 or visit www.nahb.org/20clubs.

Building Edge

RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA- Accomplishing that goal is something that gives Bill Cotton great pride. When you work with a custom builder, Cotton says, you should have someone there who really works for you instead of telling you what you can and can’t have. “I am there to make the homeowner happy with the experience of building a new home.”

The Raleigh-based builder started Cotton Contracting in 1993, specializing in trim work, and began Cotton Custom Homes in 2003. Prior to establishing Cotton Custom Homes, Bill had spent three years building custom homes from start to finish for customers who appreciated the care and attention to detail that goes into every home the company builds. It seemed the opportune time to establish a separate company specializing in custom homebuilding.

Bill was given the opportunity to pick up some challenging lots in Apex’s much sought-after Scotts Mill subdivision in 2003, and the showpiece homes he built there sold quickly.
